The purpose of this playbook is to help you cite the sources used in your academic research.

Books

One author

Author, A. A. (Year of publication). Book title. City, State/Country: Publisher.

Goldsworthy, A. (2016). Pax Romana: War, peace, and conquest in the Roman world. New Haven, CT: Yale University Press.

Note: APA uses initials for authors' first and middle names.

Two to seven authors

An ampersand precedes the name of the last author.

Ansari, A., & Klinenberg, E. (2015). Modern romance. New York, NY: Penguin Press.

More than seven authors

List the names of the first six authors, then insert an ellipsis, and then the name of the last author.

Ng, C., Hu, J., Liu, L., Choi, B., Gam, Q., Mim, Y., ... Ronson, M. (1982). Communications in the pre-school classroom. New York: NY: Hooey Press.

Edited book, no author

Editor, A. A. (Ed.). (Year of publication). Book title. City, State/Country: Publisher.

Shotton, M. A. (Ed.). (1959). Psychology: A study of science. New York, NY: McGraw-Hill.
