Search CQ Researcher

Step 1:

Access CQ Reseacher. (If you're off-campus, you will be prompted to login with your myPVCC username and password)

 

Step 2:

Enter your search terms in the box in the top right corner.  

 

 

 

 

Step 3:

Select an item from the list (just click on the title). Pay attention to the date to ensure you are getting the most current information. Some of the reports in CQ Researcher date back to 1923.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 4:

Review several items on the item you chose.  

  1. Look at the subtitle. This is the specific question the article tries to answer.  
  2. Notice the different sections of the report. If you need to take a stance on a particular issue, for example, the "Pro/Con" link will give you opinions from both sides.
  3. Pay attention to the date and don't forget to take it into account.

  • CQ Researcher is a fantastic database when researching a controversial issue. The "CQ" in "CQ Researcher" stands for "Congressional Quarterly." These reports are written for members of Congress who need to get up to speed quickly on a particular issue.
