Library Instruction: Procedures & Guidelines

If you'd like to focus instruction on specific topics, consider signing up for our library shorts (note that these sessions are not offered for SDV). These short sessions take place in the library classroom and last up to 20 minutes each.  Faculty can request UP TO TWO (2) of these shorts per visit, but they cannot be combined with one of our regular sessions.  Topics include:

• How to use the interlibrary loan service
• Source types: primary, secondary, tertiary
• Source types: scholarly vs. popular
• Avoiding plagiarism
• Generating keywords for searching
• How sourcing works
• The information cycle
• Assessing authority
• Assessing relevance
• Assessing accuracy
• Assessing bias
