In the spirit of The Song of the Cell: An Exploration of Medicine and the New Human by Siddhartha Mukherjee, we are asking our community to spend some time noticing and recording things around us that often go unseen.
Many people don’t realize that art making is as much about learning to look closely as it is about specific techniques or ideas. This skill set is getting harder to cultivate as our lives get busier and noisier. The art department challenges the PVCC community to spend some time noticing, photographing, and then sharing the “invisible” things that can be observed and revealed when you slow down, pay attention, and focus. You might find a fresh take on something familiar. Or bring to light something that lives in the dark. Or share a small beauty that no one else notices. Where will looking closely lead you?
